What it is

Controlled cooling, also called cryolipolysis, holds a cooled applicator against a small area of fat for about 35 minutes. Some of the cooled fat cells break down and the body clears them over the following two to three months.

Radiofrequency skin tightening warms the deeper layer of the skin with a handheld device moved over a gel. The warmth prompts the skin to make new collagen over the following months. Sessions are usually booked in a series of four to six.

Who it suits

People who are close to a weight they keep steady and have one or two small areas, such as the lower stomach, flanks or inner thighs, that have not changed with diet and exercise. It does not treat weight in general, and we will say so at the consultation if another route makes more sense.

Cooling is not suitable for people with certain cold-related conditions, and radiofrequency is not done over metal implants or during pregnancy. We go through this with you in person.

What the visit is like

  1. First visit

    Consultation and measurements

We measure and photograph the area for your chart and talk through what each option can and cannot do.

  2. 35 to 60 minutes

    Treatment

Cooling feels very cold for the first few minutes, then numb. Radiofrequency feels like a warm stone massage. Bring a book or your phone.

  3. Week 12

    Check-in

We measure and photograph the area again, so you can compare for yourself.

Downtime and price

After cooling, the area can be red, numb or tender for one to three weeks; you can work and exercise as usual. After radiofrequency the skin is warm and pink for about an hour. Any change appears gradually, over two to three months, and varies from person to person.

In this demo, radiofrequency starts at $350 a session and cooling at $750 an area. Members save 10 percent. You get the full plan, with the number of sessions, in writing before you book.
